We are seeking a passionate and innovative Head Chef to lead our kitchen team during the opening of our new restaurant. Our restaurant is committed to offering a diverse, high-quality menu with a strong emphasis on plant-based dishes.

As the Head Chef, you will be responsible for overseeing all kitchen operations, creating the menu, ensuring the highest culinary standards, and leading a team that shares our dedication to sustainable, fresh, and flavorful food.

MAIN TASKS

· Set up a fully functional kitchen by recruiting, training, and organizing a skilled team to ensure smooth operations and efficiency, in collaboration with HR and direct manager.

· Design and update the menu, incorporating seasonal ingredients, local specialties, and current culinary trends to ensure a variety of appealing, innovative, and high-quality dishes.

· Oversee the preparation, cooking, and presentation of all dishes, ensuring consistency and the highest quality standards.

· Lead, train, and motivate kitchen staff, including sous chefs, line cooks, and prep cooks. Conduct performance reviews, provide ongoing feedback, and ensure staff adherence to safety and hygiene standards.

· Manage inventory, including ordering supplies, tracking stock levels, and ensuring proper storage of ingredients. Work within budget constraints while maintaining high-quality standards.

· Monitor and ensure all dishes leaving the kitchen meet the restaurant’s quality standards in taste, presentation, and temperature. Address any quality concerns promptly.

· Ensure all kitchen operations adhere to local health and safety regulations, including food safety, sanitation, and cleanliness standards, while developing protocols as needed.

· Control food costs by managing portion sizes, minimizing waste, and using inventory efficiently. Help develop and maintain kitchen budgets.

· Work closely with the restaurant management team, including servers and front-of-house staff, to ensure seamless communication and coordination during service.

· Promptly and efficiently address kitchen-related issues, including equipment failures, supply shortages, and staff concerns.

PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES AND SKILLS REQUIRED

· Proven experience in fine dining cuisine as a head chef or in a senior kitchen role

· Strong culinary skills with expertise in menu creation, food preparation, and presentation.

· Leadership and team management experience, with the ability to train and inspire staff.

· Comprehensive understanding of kitchen operations, including inventory management, budgeting, and food safety.

· Excellent communication and organizational skills.

· Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.

· A degree or diploma in Culinary Arts or equivalent professional training is preferred.

Knowledge of current food trends and dietary restrictions (gluten-free, vegan, etc.)
